Neighbors Helping Neighbors

TOPS Markets® is proud of our work with hundreds of local organizations in the communities we serve – our community partners. Our partnered success last year, with you, our customer, gave TOPS the opportunity to make donations in excess of $7 million to not-for-profit 501C3 organizations that share our belief that by helping to feed those in need and enhancing the quality of life for children through education and excellent health care, we build a strong future together.

We look forward to this continued relationship with our customers and a future of living to the needs of our community.

JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION

TOPS Associates and our customers come together each Spring and Fall in the fight against Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. We ask our customers to join us in raising funds to help fight this insidious disease by purchasing paper sneakers for $1 at the cash register. Money raised is donated to the JDRF chapters in the areas we serve to help find a cure that will liberate thousands of children from the daily toll this condition takes on their lives. TOPS associates also organize walk teams in dozens of stores to participate in local JDRF fund-raising walk events.

In 2017, TOPS associates and our customers raised and donated more than $500,000 to help find a cure.

YOUTH SPORTS SPONSORSHIPS

Youth Sports - Contact your local store manager or go to the Donations Request page on the navigation tool if you would like your league or team to be considered for support.

Hunger

At TOPS, we are committed to helping eradicate hunger. Through a variety of corporate, supplier and customer donations programs, TOPS distributes over $4 million each year to help feed those in need. Much of this work is done through the network of regional food banks serving in our marketing areas in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont. To locate and learn more about the regional Food Bank serving your area visit www.secondharvest.org.

CHECK OUT FOR HUNGER (NY, PA and Vermont)

This program runs in our stores annually in late January/February. In 2017, through the generosity of our customers and associates, TOPS raised over $360,000 for our regional food banks.

RECLAMATION

Every year, TOPS sends millions of dollars worth of damaged product to reclamation. A major portion of this product is sent to food banks for distribution to the needy.

FEEDING CHARITIES

Non-profit organizations may apply to receive day old bakery products from our stores. Once the organization is approved, a pick up schedule is determined with their local TOPS store. The organization is then able to pick up day old product and use it to help feed the hungry.

UNITED WAY

TOPS and our associates provide annual support to 42 local United Ways throughout our operating area. Through our annual campaign, our associates in the store, corporate office and warehouse donated $330,000 through payroll deductions in 2016. In addition, TOPS provides annual corporate donations on a per store basis to each of the United Ways in our marketing area and also underwrites a variety of United Way volunteer training and recognition activities.

SALVATION ARMY

TOPS has partnered with the Salvation Army for more than 35 years. Each holiday season we invite the Salvation Army Red Kettle bell ringers into our stores and ask our customers to support the Salvation Army with cash donations. Last year the Salvation Army raised over $700,000 at TOPS locations through this traditional holiday fundraising drive.

MULTI-CULTURAL HERITAGE CELEBRATIONS

TOPS honors the lives and achievements of prominent men and women, events, and the ethnic celebrations of our customers with a variety of in-store events and activities throughout the year including ethnic food demonstrations, in-store vocal and musical concerts, dances, storytelling and educational activities. Thousands of customers and our vendor partners help us celebrate these festive occasions. In addition to numerous traditional religious holidays, TOPS celebrations include Black History Month (February), Cinco de Mayo (May), Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept-Oct), Diwali(November) and Kwanza (December).

NOT-FOR-PROFIT FUNDRAISING

TOPS can assist your organization with fundraising efforts via Cash for Causes, a discount gift card program. Not-for-profit 501C3 Corganizations who register for this program may purchase TOPS gift cards at a 5% discount from our corporate office and then resell them at full value, retaining the 5% for their organization's charitable activities. This program is particularly helpful for organizations like churches, schools, parent-teacher organizations, Boy Scout/Girl Scout troops, Little Leagues.

CORPORATE & STORE DONATIONS

Store managers are empowered to provide in-kind product donations to local organizations in their communities. The organizations include non-profit 501C3 groups such as fire and police departments, school and church groups as well as local sport teams. Please understand that because we receive numerous donation requests, we are not able to accommodate every donation. TOPS also has a no solicitation policy with the exception of the Salvation Army's Red Rattle campaign.
