An estimated five million people in the United States have diabetes and do not know it. This disease has the potential to cause serious health complications, but can be treated and kept under control when detected early.

• Over age 45
• Family history of diabetes
• Overweight
• Lack of regular exercise

• Women who have had a baby weighing over 9 pounds at birth
