Boosting Your Immune System

Each fall and winter, almost half the American population is affected by cold and flu symptoms. Help your family stay healthy this season by boosting your immune systems with the easy tips below.

Update your vaccinations. Consult your physician to see if you or your family members need vaccines for influenza, pneumonia or other infections.

Consider taking a daily supplement. A multivitamin-mineral supplement once a day can help prevent increased risk of infection. Check with your doctor to determine the best supplement for your needs.

Exercise regularly.  Regular moderate exercise promotes overall health and helps keep your immune system functioning properly.

Eat fruits & veggies every day.  Supply your body with antioxidants and important minerals and vitamins by including a variety of colorful fruits & vegetables in your daily diet.

Keep alcohol intake low. Avoid the damaging effects alcohol can have on your immune system by keeping your intake at a low to moderate level.

In addition, you can help prevent illness by washing your hands frequently, using hand sanitizer, drinking plenty of liquids and getting adequate sleep.
