| In-store nutritionist to help customers maintain healthy eating habits Willow Grove, PA - When the doors open at Willow Grove's Giant Super Food Store on March 5 at 8:00 a.m., customers will find an increased emphasis on health and wellness products, programs and services. In addition to an expanded selection of healthy, natural and organic products, Giant today announced the hiring of Mary Ann Moylan, RD, LDN, CDE, who will serve as an in-store nutritionist to assist customers with questions on healthy eating. The store is located at 315 York Road in Willow Grove, at the former Home Depot site. "Living a healthy lifestyle has become a major focal point in today's society," said store manager Shawn McGrory. "As one of the few grocery store chains in the country to offer the services of a nutritionist right in the store, we are in a unique position to help customers incorporate healthful changes into their every day diets. Customers appreciate the availability of an expert to help them navigate the barrage of health information in the marketplace and help them make the right choices for their families." Ms. Moylan, who has 32 years of experience in the area of nutritional counseling and dietetics, is credentialed as a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietition/Nutritionist, and Certified Diabetic Educator. Ms. Moylan, who is multi-lingual, will be available for one-on-one nutrition consultations by appointment and will teach health-related classes within the store. Another new feature will be on-the-spot nutrition talks. These short, informal talks will be given by Ms. Moylan and held in departments throughout the store, allowing customers to learn more about healthy eating during their regular shopping experience. Giant also announced its partnership with Abington Memorial Hospital to offer customers and their families in-store classes, childbirth and parenting education and heart health programs. "We are delighted to announce our exciting partnership with Giant Food Stores," said Marianna Calabrese, Director, Community Health Services, Abington Memorial Hospital. "Abington Memorial Hospital has a long-standing tradition of serving our community's health care needs and this beautiful facility will give us an additional location to deliver our programs." Giant's Nature's Promise Marketplace, "a health food store within a store" will offer an expanded variety of more than 3,500 natural and organic products, including Giant's own brand, Nature's Promise. In addition, perishable departments will provide organic selections of produce, dairy, meat and poultry items. Nature's Promise Marketplace also features a designated gluten-free product area, with a selection of gluten-free foods readily available to those customers on gluten-free diets due to celiac disease or other health concerns. The Willow Grove Giant also features a fully-equipped cooking school, offering classes for all ages and levels of expertise. The Cooking School will seat 32 and will feature Giant chefs along with chefs from around the area who will conduct free and paid classes at the school. Customers also will have access to a variety of valuable health information. Both the Pharmacy and Nature's Promise Marketplace will offer a display of Healthy Ideas brochures providing resources and actions steps for common health concerns such as diabetes, allergies and high blood pressure.
