How ChoiceCatch Applies To
Wild Fisheries And Aquaculture
Most of the products we offer can be broadly separated into two categories: wild harvested or aquacultured seafood.
Wild harvested seafood refers to seafood collected in lakes, rivers or oceans. Fishermen use a variety of equipment to harvest fish from the wild including nets, lines, dredges and traps. Species such as cod, haddock, flounder, tuna, scallops, crabs and lobster are all caught in the open ocean.
Aquaculture is a term used to describe the farming or growing of seafood. Fish and shellfish can be grown in nets, ponds, tanks and on ropes. Most of our shellfish, tilapia, salmon, catfish and shrimp are farm raised.
