Yield: 8 servings
Preparation Time: 45 min; Cook: 10 min
Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
Thoroughly wash and dry each apple (the caramel will not stick if any moisture is present.)
Press a wooden stick firmly into the top of each apple.
Place the unwrapped caramels into a medium saucepan and set over medium-low heat. Add the heavy cream and melt the caramels, stirring occasionally, until the caramels are thoroughly melted and the mixture is a smooth consistency. Reduce the heat to low.
Dip the apples one by one into the caramel mixture, allowing any excess caramel to drip back into the pan. Scrape caramel off the bottoms of the apples.
Roll the apples one by one in the preferred toppings and place them on the lined baking sheet so they aren't touching. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15 minutes until the caramel has set.
Serve the apples immediately or keep refrigerated for up to one week.
